Amendments to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) introducing mandatory reporting requirements for containers lost at sea entered into force on 1 January 2026. The new framework strengthens transparency and maritime safety by establishing clearer reporting obligations for shipmasters and shipping companies, including after severe weather events.
